Bangalore, renowned as India’s technology hub, continues to set benchmarks in urban development with its advanced infrastructure and efficient transportation systems.

The Bangalore Metro Purple Line is among its most transformative projects, seamlessly linking Whitefield to Challaghatta. This metro line, which has been fully operating since October 9, 2023, has transformed commuting, providing more connectivity for locals while becoming a convenient and eco-friendly option for visitors exploring the city.

An Overview of Purple Line Metro Bangalore

The Purple Line Metro, part of Bangalore's Namma Metro, has both elevated and underground stations. It has made travel between Whitefield and Challaghatta much easier and more convenient.

Phase 1: Phase 1 of the Purple Line started in 2011 with 23 stations, including 17 elevated, 5 underground, and 1 at ground level.

Phase 2: Phase 2 was completed on October 9, 2023, extending the line to 43.49 km with 37 stations, connecting Challaghatta in the southwest to Whitefield in the east.

Underground stations are built using a cut-and-cover method and are usually 300 meters long and 25 meters wide. The Majestic interchange station is much larger.

In response to public demand, BMRCL added toilets at some stations in 2013. Yellow tactile tiles guide visually impaired commuters at all stations.
