On Saturday, March 25, Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged the Metro services between Whitefield to Krishnarajapuram Metro Line operations. The commercial operations on this line are expected to start on March-26.

This section of Namma Metro is 13.71Km long, stretching between the first IT corridor Whitefield and Krishnarajapuram, with the addition of the Reach-1 extension from Whitefield to (Kadugodi) to Krishnarajapuram. The rhythmic hum of the train becomes a soundtrack to the dynamic energy of Whitefield, a cornerstone of innovation and technological prowess.

Bangalore Metro rail network now spans 69.86 Km, covering 63 stations, emerging as the second-largest metro network in India after Delhi Metro. According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BRCL), five trains with six coaches were purchased from BEML, and two additional trains serve as backups on the route.

This stretch is a part of the first phase of the Whitefield-Baiyappanahalli sector, with the final 2-3 km stretch between KR Puram and Byappanahalli scheduled to be operational by June 2023. With two fully functional Metro, purple and Green, more than 5 lakh commuters use it daily. Following the inauguration of the purple line extension, the Namma Metro network is anticipated to see an increase in ridership.

Those reaching KR Puram from Byappanahalli metro station will have to find the right metro feeder buses offering a ride at INR 10 from SV Road to KR Puram Station; BMTC buses have been deployed into feeder services. The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is offering feeder-buses at a frequency of five minutes from 6:05am to 10:30pm.

The frequency isn't just a convenience; it's an assurance that your journey is not bound by rigid schedules but is sculpted around your time and convenience.

While the gap between the two metro stations is inconvenient for metro commuters, it is a treat for those passengers travelling only between Whitefield and KR Puram. A loco pilot working on the 13.7 km stretch explains that "the time taken to travel from KR Puram to Whitefiels is longer due to 'single way' route from KR Puram and Garudacharpalya. However, the journey will take around 22-24 minutes."

An IT professional working at ITPL, shares his travelling experience from KR Puram to ITPL Whitefield, saying, "It used to take an hour to reach the office when commuting by bus, but this new metro services commuting time has significantly reduced to 22-24 minutes. He continues, I'm a little unhappy because the Byappanahalli and KR Puram are yet to be connected. In case of a completed route, I could directly travel to ITPL from Majestic, saving a lot of time and irritation of travelling in the notorious Bangalore traffic.

A BMRCL official, stated that the link between Baiyappanahalli and KRPuram will be completed by June 2023. The metro dept understands that metro plays an integral part in people commuting to their respective offices, completed metro-stretch will boost ridership. We will complete the work in the next three months

Parking facilities will be available only for two-wheelers at KR Puram Metro Station. "Due to limited space availability, other stations may not have parking facilities. Conversely, we are not building parking facilities for four-wheelers as a policy. We motivate riders to bring their two-wheelers. He also adds that BMRCL will launch the common Mobility Card in four to five days.
