03, December 2025

Are you considering getting a bird for a house pet?

Friendly and Cute looking are bound to be the top 2 must-haves on your list. However, do not forget to consider that many more factors like Size, Lifespan, Socialness and attention they need can make it a tough decision.

Large birds and big bird houses can make the initial cost of owning a pet higher for some. Also, some large birds can be loud and disrupt children. Owning a large bird can also result in painful bites when they feel threatened in their new surroundings. Many species of birds may have a longer lifespan than cats or dogs. If you get a bird with a longer lifespan, be ready for a lifelong commitment because there is a good chance they might outlive you!

Some Birds like canaries are more suitable for observation than interaction; they make more sense as a pet for children or for owners who are not looking for day-to-day companionship.

Some birds may not require much care except feeding, watering, and cleaning their habitat, but others get attached to their keepers. They may get angry or depressed at times when you may be away for a longer period.
